wait your being unclear. Are YOU saying he said so and so or are you directly quoting the whole line from the book? like does it actually say that exact line in the book? if so, then its

"He says, 'I've missed you Jenn.''"

If your saying in the book, joe said "blah and blah" then only put quotes around what the characters actually saying. then it'd be: He says, "I've missed you Jenn."

Another example of this: In the book, Jared asked her "Have you eaten anything lately?"

_____________________________________________

then cite it right after in parenthesis

(author, page number)

ex:

"He says, 'I've missed you Jenn'." (Hodgson 74)

I think you will do He says, "I've missed you Jenn".

For sure I know that there is no double quotes

He says, "I've missed you Jenn."

Only put quotes on the part thats actually being said.

No do it like this-

'He says, "i've missed you Jenn'"

Just put single quotation marks on the outside and the " " for the actual thing said by the charcter.

you can say "I've missed you Jenn (authors name pg. #.)"

thats how my teacher told me to do it, like a month ago. i still use it now, especially in my Iliad essay.

Heres a randome quote that might help you:

"Gilgamesh, the man who saved Enkidu, now could not bear his pain and slowly drifted to death (Hesse 44.)"

***By the way, in the parenthesis you dont put "pg" you just put the #

hope this helps good luck

"He says, 'I've missed you Jen.'" would be correct. You put quote marks that look like ' around the text that the character is saying, and then normal quotes for the non-spoken text.

Example sentence:

I think it is when he says "I've missed you Jenn."

No you say "he says, 'I've missed you Jenn'".

so you use " before he

'before I've

' after Jenn

and " after the last '

Hope I helped!

Start the quotation but using a connection. :

For example he says ''I've missed you Jenn'', which shows he is in touch with his emotions.

or something like that

if the he is a general person in ur essay then i dont think u need to put quotes around the HE, but if its neccessary then i think u quote the quote in italics or something like that

no, you only put quotations around what is actually being said out loud.

for example: Mike screamed with joy, "Gina, you're home!" As he rushed to hug her.
