Why did he say it? Or was that what he actually said?
"One step for man, one giant leap for mankind"
Theres is a huge debate whether or not he actually said it. Some people think he said "THAT'S one step for man, one giant leap for mankind"
- but tht would have been wrong.
Saying the words man and mankind both mean humans in general. The real way to have said it is ' That's one small step for A man, one giant leap for mankind.'
most of the people who heard it thought it was said ' one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind' -it was published in newspapers like tht too.
but books say 'a man'.
there was a guy who spent a great deal of time looking at old lunar film footage- for a movie- then he found tht recording of neil. it was old so he cleaned it up- According to Reinert, "cleaning it up does not truly answer the question. Armstrong did not clearly say `a man' but there's definitely a beat there.” Armstrong has said that he may have mumbled. NASA states that he said ‘a man’.
he thought of these words while he was on the ship- n then decided to say them as he was getting off. tht was PROBABLY the case. but you never know- he could've been a wise man...
Now to answer WHY he said it- its probably because-
the meaning behind it was tht- HE only took a small step to get off of the moon.
but for the WORLD & NASA it was a huge step in history.
thats basically the meaaning behind it and the debate they have about it.
**don't forget about Buzz Aldrin- he probably wood've been the first man on the moon if he wasn't nice. lol- he probably said- "go head neil, you go first." **
ALSO **the third guy in the Apollo 11 was Michael Collins (his birthday is on halloween)- he orbited the moon while they had fun**
hope i helped (love this topic),
